WKTD Thoughts on ‘Celebrity Fanaticism’

celeb

Hello there again readers!

So following on with our new style of blog post we have going on, recently me and Joe were discussing celebrity fanaticism and how easily people are infatuated by celebrities. The conversation started when I was listening to Ed Sheeran and Joe said ‘How many girls do you think Ed got before he was famous?’, probably not a lot, lets be real (sorry Ed). So this got us talking, why does being famous suddenly make someone 100x more attractive? And then I started thinking about fangirls and stuff and I thought about myself in regards to celebrity fanaticism and I said:

Daisy: Is it weird that I can say I’m honestly not a fan of any celebrity?

Joe: Oh yeah, no, not really. I find people that latch onto one celebrity strange.

Daisy: I mean, there is not one celebrity that I ‘love’ and am ‘fanatical’ about; some I like, some I dislike. I don’t really get obsessed.

Joe: Yeah, I know at the end of the day they are just normal people.

Daisy: They are just people, their thoughts and opinions and actions don’t really affect me.

Joe: I have ones that I like but really it’s their character that they play that I like, once they stop playing them, I lose interest.

This is something that I completely agree with and think is the difference between people who are celebrity fanatics and people who aren’t.

Daisy: I love Loki as a character, and I think Tom Hiddleston is a really nice guy, but that’s as far as it goes.

Joe: People that like Hiddleston and Cumberbatch get REALLY obsessive.

Has anybody else noticed this?

So yeah that was basically it, after that we went on a tangent and started talking about how we should post discussion like this on our blog!

P.S. to any die-hard fangirls reading this I’m really sorry if you were offended, this is in no way a jab at fangirl culture, it’s just interesting to notice the difference between fanatics and non-fanatics (like me and Joe, although his Doctor Who magazine collection certainly says different). It is really interesting to see human passion and what it can extend to and being a fan is just human nature, we hold celebrities on a pedestal in society and we judge them on things we would never judge a stranger on the street for, we see so much of them we feel like we know them, however, they don’t know us at all. Just a few thoughts, I hope you enjoyed. 🙂

This was only a short one but hopefully in future we will post longer discussions, if you agree or disagree with anything we said please comment below. Thank you 🙂
